MERS-CoV Disease Information

MERS-CoV disease (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome)
Disease caused by a coronavirus.

Contagion: There is mostly droplet infection from person to person with close contact (sneezing, coughing, etc.).

Incubation period: 5-14 days

Symptoms: Fever, cough, sneezing and shortness of breath.

Prevention: There is no vaccine yet. Use face mask, to approach infected or possibly infected person.  Use gloves and wash hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer.

Treatment: There is no specific treatment. Support treatment is applied.

NOTE: If fever, cough and shortness of breath occurs, within 14 days of travel to high risk areas, then should be told to the physician that you came from the point of absolute risk areas.
